On February 3rd, our Lodge held our annual Winter Banquet. This event served to recognized many of the fantastic individuals from our chapters, and Lodge , who have helped us to move forward and improve. This year, our Banquet was themed around recognizing the amazing 75 years that our Lodge has been in existence and was night to remember.
The evening opened with an address from former Pellissippi Lodge Chief and 1952 National Order of the Arrow Chief Jim Montgomery. Followed by guest speaker Scott Galyon, former University of Tennessee Volunteer and NFL Player who spoke to the audience about leaving a legacy. In addition to speakers a video about the history of Pellissippi Lodge was presented.
The following awards were presented; the Jeff Moser Rising Arrowman Award was presented to John Campbell and Eli Smith, the Cliff Harmon Inductions Award was presented to Preston Franklin, The H. Doug Ferguson, III Ceremonies Award was presented to Nolan Coffey, the Jim Montgomery Service award was presented to Preston Franklin, The Arthur B. Wood Adviser Award was presented to Pete Lloyd, and Victor Franklin, the Ray Dyke Spirit Award was presented to Echota Chapter’s Michael Waldrop, Tuckaleechee Chapter’s Zachary Martin, and Toqua Chapter’s, Jesse Mullins.
The Founders Award recognizes Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to their lodge. The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates that he or she personifies the spirit of selfless service, as advocated by founder E. Urner Goodman and cofounder Carroll A. Edson. This year’s recipients of the Founders Award are Nathan Holland and Pete Lloyd.
To close the evening the Vigil Honor candidates were announced. These candidates will be inducted during the upcoming Spring Fellowship.
